academy - prayer request

it is my goal to open my kung fu school (Kingdom Warrior Academy) by the fall of '09.

I have a lot of work to do in order to accomplish that end.

Please pray that God would send me the students to make that possible and the place for the right price.

I have been nosing around and looking at some places I have seen for lease/rent.

thanks!!

update 5; grandma's condition

The medicine wasn't working so the family convened and decided that they should take her off of it, so they did.

its all in Gods hands now.

She is ready to go, I know no one else more ready to go. If it is her time, then the Lord can have her. We will all miss her though, she is a great woman and has left a great legacy.

update 2; gma's stroke

she has NOT had a stroke,

appearently it was an aneurysm. She is also hydrosyphalic. So that means that in every area of her brain is flooded with both blood and water.

Surgery is not an option, so they are treating it with medicine. The doctor says that she may walk out of here in 5 days or she may have another one and that may be the end of it all.

more to come as it developes.

update 1; gma's stroke

they have admitted her to room #2024 in icu; in st mary's hospital in decatur

she has had a bleeding stroke as oppossed to a clotting stroke, which is the good because a bleeding stroke causes less damage.

she is really confused and disoriented. she told dad it was 1950, that she is 49 years old, she thought dad was grandpa.

the doctor said however that there is a chance she will come back from it and be fine. keep praying.

URGENT PRAYER! GRANDMA HAD STROKE

my grandma had a stroke this morning, we are with her at the hospital with my mom and dad.

they are admitting her and have a neurosurgeon on the team already.

will post updates as they are available.

ALL PRAYERS ARE COVETED AND APPRECIATED!!!

thank you!

a prayer request concerning romania

I have a request of those people who read my blog.

I am going to Romania in Nov. 5-15, they want me to use my kung fu for some sort of spiritual ministry while I am there.

Naturally I am very excited, but its not over with yet, and there is a lot of work to do.

I am in need to two things:

1: prayer support, please pray for me. Pray for the trip, the people I am going with and the people I will be serving while there. Pray for the logistics of the trip as well. The airline isn't being cooperative and so I will have to pay an additional $400 more than at first anticipated.

2: financial support, the trip will cost me $1700 total and I only have about $600 in so far. I am supposed to have the money by the end of September and while I am trusting that if it is in fact God's will for me to go then He will provide for my needs and I am not worried I still believe that the need should be bathed in prayer. (of course money donations help :)

I appreciate all of your assistance.

making progress

I have a praise! A young lady that is in our youth group that has been struggling severely (sp) for quite some time is making very nice progress.

It has taken many hundreds of hours of talking/praying to gain this ground. So praise God, but don't stop praying.

Thanks

Drew in Management

tonight, while talking with Cory in the parking lot, Drew a manager drove up and asked me if I would be working tomorrow because he needs help with his religion class. He needs to compare/contrast Muhammed with Jesus and he thought I would be able to help him do that.

I told him I would love to help and I will do my best.

Pray for me as I will try to give a clear gospel presentation to him while helping him. Also pray that I will be able to help him.

Thanks

EDIT: he didn't get with me, don't know what happened. Maybe he will come see me in the next few days. keep praying!

Josh @ McDonalds

I witnessed to a young man tonight at Mcdonalds who sat down at the table next to mine and saw me engaged in conversation with a co-worker from Wal-Mart (who I led to the Lord last week, he came to church today) and his wife.

Josh was his name, he asked me "what's up with you guys and that book?"

nice lead-in wouldn't you say?

So I shared with him for a while and I began to tell him about why the Bible was so important.

Be praying for him, God did not lead him to my table and prompt him to ask his question in vain, I believe it was intentional.

Pray specifically that Josh will not be able to forget our talk, that it will stick in his mind like a bur on your pant legs until he gets it resolved.

thanks!!

Joel in Kung Fu

Last Thursday night I was standing at the service desk at walmart talking with a man named Cory (a believer) about seeing Spiderman 3 the next night. We were both going to see it that night seperatly. He was talking about how he had not seen the first two movies. He said that it was odd because his roomate was obsessed with Spiderman and he hadn't made him see the movies, but he had made him watch lots of other movies. "It was a little disappointing, actually." He said.

Instantly this thought came to my mind and I told him this: "It's funny you should say that, because I wonder how many people walk away from us feeling disappointed because we didn't share our passion of God with them."

No sooner did I say this than a co-worker named Joel walked up to me, he has been trying to come to my kung fu classes and he wanted to talk to me about that. As he walked up he asked me, "What the H*** are you guys talking about?"
I looked at Cory and said, "like this" and then turned to Joel and said, "Funny you should say that, because that is exactly what we are talking about -- Hell." I pulled a gospel track out and shared the Good News with him. He prayed to accept Christ as his Savior that night at the service desk at Wal-Mart.

I walked away excited, but in a cautious way, for by his demeanor it was difficult to tell if what he had done he really understood. Tonight, he came to class, too late for class but just in time for church. Afterward I took his wife and him out to McDonalds and we talked. He shared a little of his life and we talked about the Bible and God and I was encouraging him to get into his Bible.

I think based on that conversation it might just have clicked with him. Hard to tell, but I will continue to follow up with him and we shall see if he begins to see change in his life.

Pray for Joel, specifically that God will speak to his heart, that he will make his committment to Christ real, and that he will see growth.

Also, pray that God will work out his work schedule so that he can continue to come to class consistently for that I think will be his avenue of growth.

thanks!!

Elvira in Housewares

a few weeks ago, I was asked to go to a walmart store in Springfield with three other people and help them stock their shelves.

I led my team throughout the day and made a prospective contact for future witnessing named Joel. I also primarily worked that day with a girl from my housewares dept. named Elvira.

She rode with back with me, and in the car ride I was able to share the gospel with her. She was attentive and open, but not willing to make a decision then. I was very scared through the whole thing. I feel as though I should have given a stronger invitation, but oh well.

Pray that God will take my feeble attempt and use it to reach her.
also, pray for future opportunities to follow up with her. She is extremely impressed with my lifestyle and that was my primary stepping stone into my witness, pray that God will use it to continue to speak to her.

thanks!!

witness/prayer request

I had an awesome opportunity to share the gospel and talk to my boss about God today at work. We had a good conversation.

It is obvious to me now that God is working on her, so be praying very hard.

Comrads in Arms

My testimony:

I was born in Ft. Worth, TX on Dec. 5, 1981 while my father was in Seminary. I was born into a strong Christian family. I was 5 years old when I knew that I was a sinner, and that if I didn't accept Jesus into my heart and my life as Savior and Lord I would go to hell, despite what I believed or my family's faith. Yet I let fear hold me in its icy grip for two years until I became more afraid of hell than I was of being in public and of water. The day was Dec. 4th, 1988, it was a Sunday. It was the last day of an outdoor tent revival, and I had been fighting it all week. On that last day, I heard God tell me, "It's today, or it's never." I knew that if I didn't face my fear and win today, then I would lose my whole life. So that moment, without my father who had promised to walk up with me all week, I moved out of my seat and made my way to the front to talk to my pastor, Larry Marlin. I could hear my mother tell my father, "well, go with him." and I knew my father was following me. I walked to my pastor and I told him, I need to accept Jesus as my Savior. He asked me a few questions, and together, my father and my pastor and I prayed that Jesus would enter my heart and my life, forgive me of my sins, and take control of my life -- and you know what? He did. And I have never once regretted it.

My ministry:

My ministry is the result of my spiritual walk intersecting with the lives of other people, both in and out of the church. I use my martial arts to build bridges and communicate spiritual truth to people. I use my blog to use my writing skills to inspire, encourage, educate, and exhort other people to a life of godliness. I use my job as a place to share God with people. I teach Sunday school, I volunteer assist leading the youth group at my church, and I mentor people individually in their spiritual walk. All of this requires a great deal of study and training and I sometimes walk a fine line in terms of having the ability to perform those functions. I make mistakes, I often find myself unqualified and in a quandry of how to answer questions, prepare and present the next lesson, conduct the next class, plan the next activity, fill the next roll.

Please pray for me.

Now that I have gone first, it's your turn. You may not do anything like what I do, you may do less, you may do more. You may just do one miniscule thing (in your eyes), but please do share. We need the prayer and support of all of our comrads in arms to make it through. I know that I need prayer, and I know you do too. So please, in the comments, share with me your testimony briefly and a short description of how you share in the kingdom burden so that I may be praying for you and together we may all bear each other's burdens in love so that the body may be edified.

don't be afraid, everybody does something, everybody has a testimony, and everybody's is equally valuable and important. Don't let fear rob you of the support, and me the opportunity to pray.

friend in need of prayer

You remember my friend who was fired from his job as a youth minister, yeah that was a bad deal. A lot of church politics and poor leadership involved in that deal but they are ok. They are being looked at by 3 different churches and things look good that at least one of them will want them.

2 prayer requests:

1: that God will lead them to make the right decision.
2: that they will be able to find a new place to live and get into it before the end of the month.

thanks

friend involved in church politics

Please pray for a friend of mine, he was a youth minister outside of StL, and out of nowhere, the church called a surprise meeting and fired him. They cited a bunch of bogus charges, that if true should have been brought to his attention way earlier and dealt with one by one. Poor leadership on their part.

UPDATE: 10-11-06; the Lord provided, and he is now a youth minister at another umc church just north of Springfield. thank you all for your prayers.
