so true about us

Acceptance without proof is the fundamental characteristic of Western religion, rejection without proof is the fundamental characteristic of Western science.

I've been mulling this over, and I'm not sure what he means by it. Can you expand on it?

I can't of course speak for the author, but this is what it seems to be saying to me.

Acceptance without proof, meaning that as far as religion is concerned people will buy into anything without it even being proven. Especially when you consider that Christianity is the truth. I talk to a great many people who believe a great many things that just don't add up to the truth. IE: I discussed creation with a man at work who insisted that the Bible REALLY taught 8 days of creation. When it clearly didn't.

Then you get rejection without proof, this applies to creation. Need I say more?

Granted this is a generalization, and it is needful to remember that generalizations are only generally true.

Thanks, this is kinda the direction my thoughts went, but it could've meant almost exactly the opposite, so I didn't know. Appreciate it!

Like I said, I don't really know what the author meant, but that is how I understood it.
